Kudla Bay – Kudla Restaurant is a cozy eatery in Dubai with a Mangalorean theme.

I’m jotting down my amazing experiences at Kudla Restaurant. After moving to the UAE, we didn’t have any Karnataka or Mangalore restaurants close by, so we got used to enjoying Tamil and Malabari cuisines

Therefore, we chose to give the “Oor da Vanas” (Countryside dishes) a try.

My cousin had previously been there, enticing me with not just the dish’s name but also its delicious taste, reasonable price, and overall worthiness.

The restaurant is a short 30-minute metro journey from Al Nahda, located near the Oud Metha Restaurant. In November, they had adorned the restaurant entrance with festive Christmas decorations, featuring a 5-ft Santa welcoming diners. Hanging frozen symbols from the ceiling, coupled with icy-colored miniature lights, set a delightful Christmas ambiance.

Upon entering, a cashier and surrounding dining tables caught our eye (a common sight in any restaurant we visit). However, what truly stood out was the wall paint—a unique South Canara theme, unlike any other restaurant I’ve been to.

The names of all the towns and villages in South Canara were beautifully inscribed on the walls.

Every visitor couldn’t help but glance around, searching for their village or hometown.

A group of four of us visited and decided on chicken biryani, chicken Manchow soup, kori rotti, kori sukka, neer dosa, and shrimp fry.

The dishes were incredibly tasty, and the waitstaff was exceptionally helpful in recommending signature dishes while customizing the flavor and spice levels to our liking. To top it off, we indulged in kesar falooda and passion fruit juice with bubbles.

The passion fruit juice was yummy, and it was my first time trying bubble juice. The kesar falooda was okay. I’m used to the fantastic falooda at Mangalore’s Ideal Cafe, so I expected it to taste the same, but it didn’t. To give it a Dubai touch, they added lots of nuts to the ice cream.

It was a delightful dinner experience. If you’re in Oudmetha and looking to park and dine, consider visiting this restaurant. If you’re a fan of South Indian and spicy Indian cuisine, you’ll be thrilled.
