“Monsoon Magic: Malenadu and Sakaleshpura in the Western Ghats”
The coastal region of Karnataka, the gorgeous Western Ghats, and the mesmerizing Sahyadri hills come alive with the rhythm of rain as the monsoon season approaches. As dark clouds gather and the first drips fall, announcing the start of a fantastic voyage, the air is filled with expectation.
In coastal Karnataka, the monsoon paints a breathtaking picture of natural beauty. Raindrops dance on the palm-fringed beaches, leaving patterns in the sand. The pounding waves have an untamed intensity that sweeps surfers and beachgoers into the sea’s thrill. The aroma of salty sea breeze mingles with the petrichor of rain-soaked mud, pleasing the senses.
The Western Ghats greet visitors with a symphony of green. Raindrops quench the thirst of the majestic trees, providing life to the dense forest. With each step, hiking through the mist-covered trails reveals surprising riches. The sound of birdsong fills the air, mingling with the gentle patter of rain. Waterfalls flow like silver ribbons down the verdant slopes, their tranquil roar a testimony to nature’s splendor.
Sakaleshpur will hold a special place in my heart forever. This is not only where I was born, but also where my grandma and grandfather raised me. That is why my existence and this place are intertwined like yarn – fabric.
One of my favorite things about Sakaleshpur is the rainy season. As the clouds gather and the drizzle starts to fall, the town transforms into a haven of serenity and beauty. The sun’s heat is soothed by the rhythmic sound of rain falling on the branches of the trees in the garden.
As the aroma of rainfall fills the air, I enjoy the beauty of nature in silence.
The monsoons here are breathtaking, and they remind me of my primary school days. I recall going hand in hand with my best friend Nishmita, soaking our feet in puddles and splashing each other with small winged raindrops that had gathered in the hedgerows, our laughter booming in the air as we cackled at that blissful time. I remember playing games without worrying about getting my school books wet or not having to think about what I was going to wear the next day.
My mother’s family raised me in Sakaleshpur. There were maybe fifteen to twenty of us at my grandmother’s place twenty years ago. They have fostered me with friendship and love that extends beyond brotherhood and family. Every moment I spent with my cousin, laughing, telling stories and discussing travels, fighting when angry, ridiculing, apologizing, and then reconnecting, has become a treasured memory for me. Their existence in this town, as well as their love for me, gives meaning to the word caring.
In our grandmother’s house, we raised cows. It’s a joy to watch these gentle creatures go about things calmly grazing on the paddy field, hillsides, and the grassy area. The relaxing sound of their bells, combined with the sight of them munching peacefully on the green grass and calling us Amba when they are hungry, gives a captivating sense of serenity.
Sakaleshapura’s paddy fields add to its rustic beauty. These fields, which stretch as far as the eye can see, wave elegantly in the breeze. The golden stalks of rice make a captivating scene, reminding me of the hard labor and attention required to cultivate the land.
Sakleshpur’s coffee estates are a true treasure. These massive coffee estates evoke awe and magic.
Sakaleshpura is home to various species, grains, pulses, and other cultivate, in addition to the widely distributed pepper creepers, ground-circulated cardamom, ginger, and other spices.
Sakaleshpur is both a natural beauty and a quiet neighborhood. The community develops a sense of harmony and unity; residents perceive one another cooperatively, forming genuine ties. My neighbors, the kind comments of the townspeople around me, and a great environment of safe support.
I have a dream to build a wonderful fusion house in Sakaleshpur. A house that combines traditional and modern design features, where my mother and the whole family can come together and create precious memories for generations of our family to come, join together often, live together, a village house we make for them. It is a dream that symbolizes my love for my family and my deepest desire to nurture togetherness and love.
Sakaleshpura is woven with love, family, nature, and dreams. This is where my heart takes sanctuary, and my love for this town gets greater by the day, and I am grateful for the blessings given to me by the elderly people who live here.
I appreciate you reading my post, and I hope you will continue to do so as I unveil the historical and scenic locations in the Sakaleshpura region in my future blog.
